Update on Little Kaleb

Been 22 days since the arrival of our 2nd bundle of joy. He has been doing very well and drinking very well too. He's sleeping most of the times (which we are very thankful) but when he wets or soil himself, his cries are really loud!! He's a "live alarm clock" too... never fail to wake me up to feed him when the time is up!! And thank god, Kayden will still be sleeping and snoring away like a little piggy despite the cries of his little brother. =)

Smiling in his sleep.....
Opening his eyes after a satisfying sleep.

Dry forehead....
Napping soundly during noon time...
Hopefully he will stay this way (nap most of the times) for a long long time.

Hugs and Kisses!

Yesterday when Kenneth brought Kayden to the Infant Care Centre, Teacher Nora asked if Kayden is always hugging and kissing his little brother at home. Kenneth's reply is no, coz Kayden is still small, we are afraid that he will be too rough to Kaleb. The most we allow Kayden to do is just "sayang didi" which means, letting him stroke gently (but he can be a bit rough at times).

Teacher Nora said that Kayden likes to go around and hug the other toddlers and kiss them!!! He especially loves to kiss Lyvana! *LOL* We know that he loves to play with her coz they used to chase each other around inside the play area. We didn't realise that he loves to kiss her too. *LOL* But back at home, when we asked Kayden to kiss or hug us, he will just walk away... I always thought that this boy is those shy shy type, doesn't like to show his affection openly. Boy... I was wrong! *LOL*

Back from the Infant Care and demanded to play with my camera. My poor camera is spoil coz of the rough handling... going to get a new one soon!! (Hopefully this Sunday!!)

He will go around wiping the floor whenever he has a piece of tissue or clothing. *LOL* Guess he always his his nai nai doing this, that's why he also has this idea of cleaning the floor.

Finally decided....

We (or rather I) have finally decided that we will celebrate Kaleb's 1st month baby shower!! Previously, we (or rather I, again) had agreed that we will not have any 1st month party so as to be fair to Kayden (coz he did not have any when we were in States). But after much thinking (ok, quite free at home, so think about all these nitty gritty stuff), decided that we should have one coz I don't think I am ever going to have a #3 (unless accident happen again =s) although I know Kenneth would very much like to have a daughter. *LOL*

Left with such little time (2 weeks) to look for a venue, finally confirmed one over the weekend!! Super duper happy coz the party is gonna be on 7 Aug (Sat) and it's a super long weekend, so quite surprise that the function room is still available. The party is gonna be held at one of the condominium's function room (or maybe it's a hall? need to view the place this Sunday).

Now that I have settle the venue, the next thing is the buffet!! Must decide on which caterer and also the number of guests! Guess for Kenneth's side, not many people will be coming coz he has no intention to invite his colleagues. He doesn't like to trouble people. *LOL* As for his relatives, don't think many will come. *LOL* So once again, like what happened during Kayden's 1st birthday, the party will be flooded with MY PEOPLE! *LOL*
So, if you guys have any recommendation for caterer, please drop me a note. Greatly appreciate. =) In return, I will post more pictures of the celebration when it's over.
Oh, another question... do I have to give everyone a box of "goodies"? Or only give to close friends and relatives? This is my 1st (and also last time, hopefully) doing all these. Hope some kind soul will guide me through. =D

Life @ Home during Confinement Period (Part 2)

It's soooooo boring!!! I don't know how some can tahan not stepping out of the house during this 1 month's confinement period. For me, I am being restricted to the bedroom only (my own choice). I am 99% recover and well now. But everyday, I still need to eat those horrible confinement food. *yucks*I even have the thought of going back to work!!! I must say that this time round, I recovered (the stitches, etc) after 1 week!! So miracle! Whereas last year, I was still in pain after 1 month! I think I will be happier if I can go back to work next week (at least don't need to see and hear someone's voice so frequent). But Kaleb is a premature baby, I wouldn't want to put him into the Infant Care Centre when he's only 2 months old. Guess I will really need to utilize all the 16 weeks of maternity leave and put him in only when he's 3 months old.

Brought Kaleb for his jaundice follow up today and we are so glad to hear that he has fully recover. =) And his weight gain is pretty good... he is weighing 2.56kg! The next checkup will be 11 August (not sure what the PD wants to check also. LOL).

Smiling in his sleep....

Sound asleep in Daddy's palms!

One of the rare moments when he is awake during day time. He is normally wide awake at night, when everyone is asleep but thank goodness, he never fuss or cry, just look around. Hopefully he will be like Kayden, a fuss-free baby. =)

Kayden back from the care centre and this is the water bottle that left a cut on his chin.

updates on Kayden

While walking across the mattress yesterday evening (coz he was very anxious to go and see what was didi doing on the bed), Kayden tripped and fell with his water bottle in his mouth. He was drinking and walking at the same time. -.-" This resulted in a slight cut on his chin. He started crying as I cradled him in my arms. This is when I realised, he has so many little teeth sprouting out at the same time!!!
I had been wondering, when are all the other teeth coming out (as he's still being spotted with 8 teeth now)... 3-4 are coming out at the bottom and 1 big upper molar is coming out too! This explains why he had been putting his fingers into his mouth and also bitting on his pacifier so frequently. Oh, and these days, he has been rejecting porridge, unless if he's very hungry then he will finish everything. So thankful that he did not have any fever (*touch wood*) with the sprouting out of all these teeth. *LOL* And these days, when Kenneth bring him to the Infant Care Centre, there are no longer any teary good-byes. =) Instead, Kayden will wave to Daddy once Teacher carry him over. =)

He's no longer afraid of being shower by the faucet! Good training at the IFC. =) Can't imagine if he's still being taken care of at home, guess he will become a very big and notti spoilt BABY!!

Constantly spotted with the tutu in his mouth... LOL

Kayden will turn 17 months old this Sunday. =)

Till date, he understands what we are talking about... like when I told Kenneth I want to go into the room to check out didi, Kayden will immediately walk into the room, for fear that we leave him behind. *LOL* So far, he has been a very good kor kor, he will sayang didi when we asked him to and he will keep quiet when we told him that didi is sleeping and don't wake didi up. =)

Life @ Home during Confinement Period

The 3 of us (Me, Kenneth and Kaleb) "ran away" to Mum's place on Friday morning after putting Kayden into Infant Care Centre because someone at home has gone crazy again. *LOL* I wonder, why is it that for others, they are so happy when they have a newborn child / grandchild but for my case, why is it not so? *LOL*

Was msn-ing with a friend on Thursday evening and when I told her I need to go off to fetch Kayden (with Kenneth), she got a shock... I am suppose to be doing confinement, why am I still running around? Bumped into another friend at the MRT, she also commented on the same thing! oh well, not that I want to go out... but if I don't follow along to have dinner outside (oh yes, no one dare to cook at home for fear of kena scolded for dirtying the beloved kitchen) then my dinner will be very very late. At home, I need to take care of Kaleb and Kenneth needs to tend to Kayden (feed him, play with him, bathe him, etc). By the time Kenneth has dinner, it's always after Kayden goes to bed and that is like 8pm+.

Anyway, I am fine with not having any confinement but the older folks (like my mum) object strongly. How wonder my life will be if we are staying on our own now. I will have so much "freedom" and not be restricted to my room only when that particular person is home. *LOL*
Still couldn't find my USB Card Reader but I discovered that my notebook at home has a in-built card reader!! So thrilled and happy about it. Now, I can upload those pics that I took after Kaleb is home with us. =)
Kayden looks HUGE over here when place beside his didi.... Somehow or rather, he seems to have "mature" quite a lot after didi's arrival. *LOL*
Oh, the light is so glaring!!
Tiny tiny baby... =)
While waiting for our turn when we brought him for his jaundice follow up @ Thomson Medical Centre last Monday. He must be very bored with all the waiting.
Daddy, can we go home already?
I am going so bored with all these waiting!!
Sleeping soundly at home after discharge from TMC. =)

Jaundice Jaundice Go Away!!

Brought Kaleb for his jaundice checkup on Monday. Jaundice level increased from 9 to 14.9. Dr Ang told us that anything above 15, baby needs to be admitted but because Kaleb is a premature baby, she advised that either to admit him or rent the equipment home so that he can be under the light at all times. We decided to admit him.

Went down to visit him on Tuesday and jaundice level had dropped to 9.5. Was told that he should be able to discharge the next day. True enough, the level dropped further on Wednesday, 7.9, and we could bring him home!! But we still need to tan him very diligently and make sure that he drinks well. =)

Took some pictures and thought can load up but sad to say, I can't remember where I kept the USB Card Reader!! Or, maybe it's Kayden who kept it somewhere again!!! =S So.... no pictures till I get another card reader or till I buy another camera!! =D

Registering Baby's Name

Kenneth went to register baby's birth cert on Monday. Early morning, he asked me to write down the Chinese name as well as the English one. Blur blur, at 6am+ I spelt baby's name wrongly!! We wanted to name baby KAYLEB because the 1st 3 letters are the same as Kayden's. Instead, I wrote KALEB!! without the "Y"!!!!! And this Kenneth, he knows that we are suppose to spell the name with a Y but instead, he thought I wanted it without the Y and he proceeded with the paper work + baby bonus thingy.

Came back, I saw the birth cert, spotted the mistake. He said amendments can be done, only need to pay $60. So the next day, we went to ICA, thinking to add in the Y into the Christian name. After checking through, we were told we need to inform MCYS about the change as they had already submitted the baby bonus form to MCYS. Anyway, after much "discussion", we decided not to add in the Y... just leave the name as it is (KALEB) because it is too much a hassle to inform MCYS.

So... baby's name will be KALEB, Soh Wei Yang... =)

Double Standard?

When Kayden was born, he received 3 huge red packets from my FIL, MIL and BIL. I was shocked when Kenneth told me that the amount was transferred to his bank account (coz we were still in States). Now that Kayleb is born, I would expect the same "treatment". But... guess I was wrong. *LOL* He will only be receiving one-fifth of what his kor kor got!!!!!

I can't think of any reasons but the following...

1) Kayden is the eldest GRANDSON? Will they still give this much if he's a GIRL instead? *LOL* Maybe if this is the case, then Kayleb will be the one getting the huge red packets. *LOL*

2) Economic crisis? Maybe they are not doing so well... but my FIL and MIL are both not working and my BIL is holding a stable job. *LOL*

3) Kenneth's reason: Coz we were in States then and they thought we would need $$$? Oh well, if this is the case (need their $$ to raise our son), then we won't be having any children at all!!!!

Anyway, Kenneth and I are really clueless why there is such a drastic drop... but in any case, we appreciate their token and will deposit the money into our little baby's account. =)

Naming Baby #2

We had a very hard time getting a name for our 2nd bundle of joy. Kenneth wanted something that start with "K" while I wanted something that start with "J". I don't intend to have a #3 in future. *LOL* So, guess no chance to have a daughter.

It wasn't easy getting a boy's name that start with "K". In the end, Kenneth felt that KAYLEB sounds nice and the first 3 letters are the same as Kayden's. Whereas for me, I very much would like to name this baby, JOSHUA. =D We were still debating on the name to use.... and then I went into labour. *LOL* So many things not done and not ready, this naming baby is one of them. *LOL*

While in the hospital, after my delivery, we continued with the "debate". I could sense that he very much want to name baby Kayleb but of course, he claimed he doesn't mind if I want to call him Joshua. Once again, he said, "we can try again after 3 years and maybe by then, you can name our daughter with something that starts with J." =S So easy and relax for him to say, I will be the one carrying the ball and going through the labour process again!!! I can sense that he very much would like to have a daughter... oh well, we shall see about that 3 years later then. Maybe another accident will happen. Since these 2 boys of mine are "accident" babies. *LOL*

And so, our 2nd bundle of joy is called Kayleb Soh! Chinese name is more or less confirm.... if nothing goes wrong, should be Wei (1) Yang (2). This is the name we actually wanted to name Kayden with. *LOL* Seems like going to be used on Di Di instead. =D

Right now, I am enjoying my confinement at home. Can be a bit bored at times but I am so glad that baby is latching on well (unlike Kayden then) and the milk supply is sufficient. But at times, we still give formula milk coz it's simply too tiring to be up to nurse every 3 hours!!! Poor Kenneth is very tired also as he needs to look after Kayden on weekends. We are just so glad that Kayden is going to Infant Care Centre on weekdays. *LOL* Sorry Kayden, not that Daddy and Mummy don't love you but you are simply too hyper active at this stage now. Walking and running around at home.... really making us exhausted. *LOL*

Birth Story of Our 2nd Bundle of Joy

Our 2nd Bundle of Joy had happily decided to come out on his own on 7 July 2010!! He is 5 weeks away from the EDD and is a premature baby.

Had contractions on the night of 6 July, started at 11pm+, it was something like menses cramps. Kenneth came back at 12am+ from work and I told him about it. He said, "cannot be so soon, you are still weeks away from your EDD." But he did ask me if I wanted to go hospital. Decided not to go coz I can see that he was very tired and that, if we were to go hospital in the middle of the night, what's going to happen to Kayden? Didn't want to leave him in the care of others at night. =) Anyway, the pain was pretty bad and I even went toilet to poo poo twice. *LOL* Coz Kenneth told me, maybe it was food poisoning. *LOL*

Woke up the next morning at 6am+, thinking of the meeting which I was suppose to have with my boss at 8am. Didn't sleep well the whole night through because the pain came on and off. Went to wash up and the pain came again. Poo poo again but this time round, saw RED!!! I knew it that I could not wait any further. Hurriedly asked Kenneth to wake up and after a while, we were on the way to the hospital.

Reached hospital 50-60 mins later. Luckily the pain was really bearable, if not, I think I would had scream and scream throughout the car ride. *LOL* Reached hospital around 8am. Admitted to the ward and upon checking, I was already 4cm dilated!! Gynae came and he was very concern coz this is going to be a premature baby, he was worried that the lungs will not be fully developed and there might be complications when baby is born. He thought of prolonging baby's stay in my womb for another 24 hours but when he checked me, I was 5cm dilated!! I dilated 1cm within half an hour. This was then he decided, there is no way the baby can wait for another 1 day.

When he was checking me, I was screaming. (ok, I have very low threshold of pain) He advised me better to take epidural. *LOL* Else when the real contractions come, I will not be able to take it. He said, "although you might deliver in the next 30-45 mins and the epidural cost around SGD700, but it will be very worth it for your case since you cannot tahan pain." *LOL* So pai say...

Took the epidural and gynae came to check on me again at 9am+ and said I was only 5-6cm dilated and I should be delivering around 12noon - 2pm. He left. And then, waiting game started....

The midwives came around 1pm+ and switched off the epidural thingy. Said I will need to feel something so that when they guide me how to push, I will do it correctly. Gynae came at 2pm and after 3 pushes and 2 minutes, our 2nd Bundle of Joy is born!!!! It was a short and smooth delivery. Pediatrician was on standby and after checking baby, she said that baby is very healthy and all organs are fully developed!! Thank god!!

Baby fresh from oven.
A bit light... only 2.335kg! and 46cm long...

Very powerful lungs....
Calm down a bit...
Our 1st family photo together! 1 + 1 = 4!! Daddy. Mummy. Kor Kor. Di Di. =D
Another shot again...
Baby with his pouty lips... sexy! *LOL*
The 3 of us...
Happy Daddy with his 2nd son...
Sis and Trini came to visit. 2 beauties and a little baby. =)

Colleague, Mei Fay. She didn't dare to carry Baby, so she decided to carry Kayden and take a pic with him. *LOL*
Looks so very much like Kayden when he was a newborn... =)
Crying again!
Sleeping peacefully...
Discharged on 9 July (Friday) and was told that Baby couldn't go home with us coz he has jaundice. But Kenneth insisted on bringing Baby home and upon testing, the jaundice level is very low!! So, very happily, the 2 of us discharged from hospital and went back home. =)
We are very thankful that although he is a premature baby, but he's healthy. He came so much earlier that we were all not prepared. Lots of things not bought and done and haven't even did hand over in the office!!! We were suppose to go for studio photo taking with Kayden on Friday but need to postpone. *LOL* Maybe Baby know about it and is jealous that we are going without him and so decide to come out earlier so that he can join us. *LOL*

06 July 2010

Kayden is Walking (finally)!

It's been a month plus since we put Kayden into Infant Care Centre and we are so happy that he is able to walk now!! It's such a funny thing that the main reason behind us putting into the centre is not because we have no one to help us take care, but rather, it's to let him learn how to walk... let him have the "freedom" that he missed out during the months after we were back. =D

Managed to capture a little video of him walking inside our bedroom. Beware of his screams. *LOL*

Although he is still very much like a "humpty dumpty" as he put his feet on the ground, but at least he has some progress. =)
