update on Baby Kaleb

Kaleb is 9 weeks old today! He is getting more and more chubby as the days go by. Not forgetting that he has a real fiery temper (so very unlike Kayden)! His cries are loud and sharp and he is always stretching and stretching! Sometimes after his feeds in the middle of the night, he will just lie there and stare at me. Baby, do you know Mummy needs to sleep? LOL.

Been quite a while since I post up his pics... Below are a few of them.. =)
At Mum's place... waiting for "driver" to come and fetch us home.
My Sister said he super looks like me... especially the eyes, which are long-ish shaped.

Smiling when I started to tease him =)
Deep in thoughts....
He looks rather fair in this pic...

We are bringing him for his 2 months checkup + jab next Monday. =) Wonder what's his weight now. LOL. Will update again soon...

Last Day.... =(

Today is Kayden's last day at the Infant Care Centre. =( He will be "upgraded" to PlayGroup this Thursday. Passed my camera to the teachers and asked them to help take some photos for memory sake.

Posing with the little gifts which I prepared for the teachers (for Teacher's Day!!)
The 3 gorgeous teachers... Isn't Kayden a lucky little guy in the pic? LOL.
Sweet and Beautiful Teacher Joanne! (He looks so serious here. LOL.)
Sexy and Young Teacher Nora! who brought about lots of changes at the IFC side. =)
Gentle and Caring Teacher Margaret!!

Kayden has officially "graduated" from Infant Care. =) Hope he will adapt to life in PlayGroup starting this Thursday. Will be with him for few hours on that day. Pray that everything will go smoothly and he will not cry when I leave. =)

Kayden has finally recover and went back to the IFC this morning!! Luckily he did not cry when we went in. I thought that after his absence for 1 week, he will cry and protest when we go over. =) But sad to say, he is going over to PlayGroup starting this Thursday. Hope he won't go through the "crying-non-stop-when-I-leave" cycle again. Tomorrow is half day for them and on Wednesday, because it is Teacher's Day, so the centre is close. Gotta pass my camera to the teachers tomorrow so that they can take pictures with Kayden. =)

Following Kayden's recovery, Kenneth is diagnose with HFMD!!! Sigh... He went to see doctor last Friday and was given MC. Wonder when can he return back to work because the blisters seems to be more and more. =S especially on the soles... really very terrible... all the tiny little red spots... He is so afraid that he will pass the virus to Kaleb and so he is sleeping in the living room till he recovers. I am all alone with the 2 boys at night and thank god, Kayden is always so tired and will fall asleep on his own very fast. As for Kaleb, as usual, he needs to play his "orchestra" for a while before falling asleep. LOL. Really hope this "orchestra" will stop soon!!

During the past 1 week, Kenneth was solely looking after Kayden and I will go to my mum's house with Kaleb almost everyday (for fear that the baby will get the virus). During that week, I only get to see Kayden for like 10 minutes (maximum). =( So upset and miss him. I was quite surprise to learn that he knows a lot more things when I interacted with him on Saturday. He can understand a lot more better now and know most parts of his body!! All thanks to his Daddy who spent the one week coaching him all these (of course, not forgetting scolding and spanking Kayden during the one week too. LOL.) The most funny thing is, when we were eating "man tou" that day, I told him, "This is man tou." And he straight away point to his head!! He thought I was asking him where is his "tou". LOL. His action is very funny.

Not sure why but Kayden seems to be very choosy about his food these days. Is it due to the fact that he is teething? He has another 4 big molar teeth coming out!! Gosh... don't know why his teeth like to come out all at one shot!! He refuses to eat rice, porridge, fish, etc when he's at home. But over at IFC, he will eat everything!! maybe coz he sees other kiddos eating also... sigh... What to prepare for his meals has become a very big headache for us!! =(

Will update more on Kayden going over to the PlayGroup soon. I hope he can fit into the uniform because although it is the smallest size (XS), but I think it will look HUGE on him!! LOL.

HFMD

Brought Kayden to see the doctor on Friday evening as he has little spots coming out on his hands and legs. We are so afraid that he kena chickenpox coz the fever also get worse. Doctor diagnosed and said it is HFMD!!! Sigh...

Need to separate Kayden and Kaleb coz doctor said the virus is air borne, might pass to the newborn via air and will be very jia lat if Kaleb gets it. And so, starting from last night until when Kayden recovers, he and Kenneth will be sleeping in BIL's room. Sigh... That also means I can't go and see my baby in the middle of the night. =(

Hope Kayden will recover soon and go back to IFC. Kenneth will be on leave next week to look after him at home. I can't really handle Kayden coz I am the main care giver for Kaleb now, we are afraid that I will pass the virus to baby. Sigh...

Breastfeeding

The other day, PD asked me whether am I breastfeeding Kaleb. I told her, I express my milk out and feed him through the bottle. Is this consider breastfeeding? *LOL* During Kayden's time, the ang moh PD also asked me the same question.
Tried latching Kaleb on few days back and amazingly, he has not lost the "skill" yet! I always know that he is a born "latch-er" but I thought that after so long (many many weeks) of not latching him, he will refuse and do not know how to do it. Surprisingly, he is able to!!
For Kayden, he didn't know how to latch on so I always express out my milk for him. I did struggle and try to get him to latch on when he was 10 weeks old but he just refused to! I was so upset then. *LOL* Felt like a failure. For Kaleb, I was thinking, I should try and latch him on coz I am not going to have a #3 next time, so this baby will be my final and last try. *LOL* I want to be able to do something that Daddy can't do. =D
Both my Mum and Kenneth kept asking me like am I sure that Kaleb has drank enough (coz never express out, can't see how much he had drank). I guess I did it the right way because he fell asleep after nursing. If he is hungry, he will wake up, right? Also, he only cry for milk again after 3 hours... so that means, he had drank enough when he latches on, right?
After nursing him, I will then proceed to express out the "remaining" milk. He will normally nurse on one side only. Is this normal?
Can some mummies please answer my queries?? Gam Xie =D

Fever...

Received a call from Kayden's teacher and was told that Kayden is running a fever - 37.7 degree. Asked me to go over to fetch him home. Luckily I didn't go to my mum's place today, if not, I will need at least few hours before getting him home. Immediately took a cab over and brought him home. Thank god the cabbie was kind enough to wait for me while I went into the centre. If not, it would be tough for us as it was drizzling.

Teacher said there is a suspected case of HFMD in the centre and ask me to monitor if there are any blisters coming up on Kayden's palms. She also said that they will need to see a doctor's note, certifying that Kayden is well enough to go back to the centre on Monday, if not, they cannot take him in. =s So, we will need to bring him to the doctor, not to get a MC but to get a chit to say that he is fit and well. *LOL*

Came back home, gave him the fever medicine. His temperature was 38.2 degree. Then put the cooling "gel" on his forehead which he absolutely hates it. I need to keep distracting him so that he will not take it off from his forehead. After an hour or so, took his temperature again and it has gone down to 37.6 degree. Thank god.

playing with his cars in the living room

very cranky baby... guess he's feeling very uncomfortable...
can even see his tear at the corner of his right eye...

Right now, the 3 Ks are napping together... Daddy, Kor Kor and Di Di... =) Hope Kayden's fever will be gone when he wakes up later.

17 August 2010

Kaleb will be 7 weeks old tomorrow!! I can't believe that he has been with us for such short period only coz it seems like he has been around for ages! *LOL* That also means my lack of sleep only started few weeks back. *LOL* Seems like years that I get to sleep through the night!

He is getting rounder and rounder. Face is like a "han bao bao" (according to his Daddy). His cries are loud and sharp (very unlike Kayden, who is a gentle baby). And when he wants his food, it means he wants it IMMEDIATELY!! *LOL*

He has very long limbs... and very long fingers! maybe can let him learn the piano next time.
Very chubby cheeks!
Falling asleep...
Kaleb: Mummy, are you calling me? =)
Guess I will miss him when I go back to work in October... I wonder if he will miss me. *LOL* How I wish October will never come... =(

As usual, went over to Mum's place on Sunday after having our brunch at Peach Garden @ Orchid Country Club. Mum was very upset that I didn't want to have my lunch at her place. *LOL*

Let him lie in the car seat to drink his milk... as well as watching TV programme at the same time.
He was so overly hyperactive at Mum's place that he refused to nap till 4pm!! Woke up at 5pm+ and had his dinner. Btw, this Paul Frank outfit is sooooo comfy! Bought them from a spree in FB. Gonna get more for my kor kor... =)

And I realised that I still have lots of Kayden's clothing that I bought from States un-used! Wondering how can I get rid of them... open house sale? Don't think that's possible... Post them on FB to sell? Or maybe I should take the pics and post them up here? Or... I should keep them? Hmmm.....
Brought Kayden to Suntec Junior League to have his hair cut last Saturday. This is the 4th time he is having his hair cut. As usual, he was crying and crying. But this time round, he sat on the chair himself, instead of us sitting on the chair and he sitting on our lap. =)
This is also our first time out to a shopping mall as a family of 4. Kaleb was well behaved, sleeping throughout most of the times. As for Kayden, ever since he master the art of walking, he just couldn't stop throttling all over the place!

Put all the bottles and milk powder into his Barney bag. He insisted on carrying it and almost fell backwards coz it's very heavy. *LOL*
Went for tea break first at Bakerz Inn.
Mango Moouse and New York Cheese Cake! *Yumz*
Very big eyes!
Daddy giving him milk...
Kenneth wanted to buy sandals and Kayden was running all over the place, so in the end, took out Kaleb (who was lying in the car seat) and strapped Kayden into the stroller, letting him facing the wall to repent. *LOL* Time to get another stroller!
We wanted to get those double stroller but we are afraid that it can't fit into our little car. Sigh... Maybe we will just use the umbrella stroller which Kayden always use when we go to coffee shop. Small and light.

While waiting for his turn... he went wild again. *LOL*
Kena caught....
Struggling... wanted to come down....
Continue to struggle...
Finally break free and wander into the shop... beautiful dresses!
After waiting for hours, it's finally Kayden's turn! All the things on the seat to distract him... but also never stop him from crying out loud. We were so pai say. *LOL*
He got distracted a bit when he realised that he can press those buttons
Look at his expression in the mirror. *LOL* He wans in great anguish!
Can you spot the little star puff at the corner of his mouth? Kenneth was feeding him his snack while the hairdresser get his work done.
Finally done! Lying on Daddy's lap as he got changed.
Kayden: oh... I am having such terrible headache after all these crying!

We ended the day by having a nice dinner at Sizzler and we realised that Kayden loves to hold the carrot stick and eat it raw! Our boy is really growing up fast! =)

Kaleb has been very demanding on his milk intake. Not that I am complaining but I think that it's great! He needs to be fed every 2-2.5 hourly and the milk intake is 80-90ml every time. One thing I must admit is that it's quite shiong to wake up in the middle of the night (especially during those wee hours time) to feed him. When Kayden was a newborn, I need to set my alarm clock and wake up to feed him every 3 hourly. But for Kaleb, he is my alarm clock! He will automatically wakes me up.

Kaleb is drinking BM 99.9% of the times. We will only give him FM when we are outside (like go shopping or go for his checkup). I am not latching him on direct because I don't like the feeling (and smell) of having the other breast leaking when he is nursing. *LOL* But I must say that he's a naturally born "sucker". =D
Burping my little xiao bao bao after feeding him.
I am very sure that Kayden knows how to call Kenneth - Dad. But everytime, he will only say the word "DAD" in my presence. I think he also knows how to say "Di". He pointed to Kaleb last night and said "Di".

This is the photo that Kayden will always say "Dad" when he sees Kenneth (in the pic).

I was alone in the room with the 2 boys yesterday when Kenneth went out to have dinner. I almost went crazy having Kayden not only messing up the room but also playing with the dustbin!!! I beat his hand hard and he actually refused to look at me. Guess he has a very "strong" character, just like Kenneth. Sigh... Need to have a lot of love and patience to nurture him... =)

11 August 2010

Tat... Ti?

At 17.5 months old, Kayden's vocabulary is very limited. In fact, he only knows how to say "mum mum" and NO, he's not calling me!! He's actually referring to FOOD!!! Whenever he wants to eat something, he will point at the thing and go "mum mum mum mum".... -.-"
We have been waiting and pondering who he will call first? Is it Mummy? Daddy? Nai Nai? Po Po? and the list goes one......
On National Day, Kenneth went to eat at the coffeeshop during evening, leaving the 2 boys under my care. (Yes, I am always looking after them ALONE whenever he went out for dinner, even during my confinement period.) As usual, without Kenneth around, Kayden started to "explore" our bedroom and walked to the other side of the bed, which he never been to before (coz need to walk pass the TV and the dustbin, which Kenneth don't allow).
And he walked the the side table beside the bed which our ROM picture was place on it. I asked him "where is Daddy?" He pointed to Kenneth and out of the blue... he said... "Tat... (pause for few seconds)... ti" I was so shock and so I asked the question again, and he repeated the same "Tat.... ti" =D I told Kenneth when he came back and he said he will only believe it if he hears it himself. *LOL* To think that Kayden actually called Kenneth first!! Kenneth is very stern with him and set a lot of "no no" rules for him. But, they share the same "bed" (sleeping on the floor) every night... maybe that's why Kayden calls him first. LOL.

Kaleb's 1 month Checkup

We brought Kaleb for his 1 month old check up today @ TMC. The last time when he had his weight taken was 3 weeks back, when he returned for checkup for his jaundice. He weighed 2.56kg. He is weighing at a whooping 3.8kg and "standing" at 53cm now!!
PD is very happy about his weight gain (coz of the fact that he is a premature baby) and claimed that the gain is very fast!! She also commented that he's a big eater. *LOL* I guess Kaleb will not be like Kayden, so "slim" and lean. *LOL* Think Kayden will be "bullied" by him in future.

Lying there... quiet as a mouse... just looking around... waiting for "driver" to come and fetch us home.
His face is real round... and has a very very thick double chin. *LOL*
Suddenly started crying! His cries are loud and SHARP!!

Pop the pacifier into his mouth and he became quiet that very instant!
Drifting off to lala land...
Dreaming of MILK, MILK and MORE MILK! *LOL*

We are really very happy that our little baby is catching up on his weight.

10 August 2010

National Day 2010! We went to Airport Terminal 3 during noon time for a late lunch. Went over to Dian Xiao Er and their roast duck is soooo fabulous!! *drool* After lunch, we let Kayden ran around the place for a while and he was like a wild horse... charging all over the place. *LOL*

Pretending to eat from his bowl
Not bad... the way he holds the spoon. Kudos to the teachers from the infant care centre. =)
The wild child being let loose... *LOL*
Pause for a while to take a rest...
Went over to Times and he took a DVD out....
Reading... as if he understands. *LOL*

At the end of the day, he was so reluctant to go home and Kenneth needs to drag him to the car. And all these while, Kaleb was sleeping... only woke up once to have his feed. =)
