Tat... Ti?

At 17.5 months old, Kayden's vocabulary is very limited. In fact, he only knows how to say "mum mum" and NO, he's not calling me!! He's actually referring to FOOD!!! Whenever he wants to eat something, he will point at the thing and go "mum mum mum mum".... -.-"
We have been waiting and pondering who he will call first? Is it Mummy? Daddy? Nai Nai? Po Po? and the list goes one......
On National Day, Kenneth went to eat at the coffeeshop during evening, leaving the 2 boys under my care. (Yes, I am always looking after them ALONE whenever he went out for dinner, even during my confinement period.) As usual, without Kenneth around, Kayden started to "explore" our bedroom and walked to the other side of the bed, which he never been to before (coz need to walk pass the TV and the dustbin, which Kenneth don't allow).
And he walked the the side table beside the bed which our ROM picture was place on it. I asked him "where is Daddy?" He pointed to Kenneth and out of the blue... he said... "Tat... (pause for few seconds)... ti" I was so shock and so I asked the question again, and he repeated the same "Tat.... ti" =D I told Kenneth when he came back and he said he will only believe it if he hears it himself. *LOL* To think that Kayden actually called Kenneth first!! Kenneth is very stern with him and set a lot of "no no" rules for him. But, they share the same "bed" (sleeping on the floor) every night... maybe that's why Kayden calls him first. LOL.

Kayden's 1st Craft Work

Kayden and friends did some "craft work" in the centre for National Day last week. They had their palms painted and did some palms printing on papers!

Can you spot Kayden's piece?
Clue: The very defined palm prints belong to Kayden. =)
Kayden's cute little hand print. His name was spelt wrongly though =(

Teacher Nora said Kayden was a bit scare at first when they painted his palm RED. He actually cried a bit and refuse to print it on the paper. *LOL*

Once again, i am so glad that we send him to the centre because he will definitely not get to do all these at home!! (for fear that he mess up the floor *LOL*)

Kayden's 1st National Day Celebration

Kayden had his 1st National Day Celebration at the centre yesterday. All the kids were told to dress in Red and White. Luckily Kayden has this attire at home else I will be rushing around to look for the outfit. *LOL* Teacher said he truly enjoyed himself and loves it when they went over next door (where the bigger kids are) for the celebration. He wasn't shy at all which is a good thing as I don't want him to have a hard time adjusting to PG.

Teachers gave him a very stylo hair style. *LOL*
In a daze....
Running around at the infant side before going over next door...
Opppss... some milk first so that he will have the energy later! Boy... look at his eyes... he must be sleepy...
Ok, still not time yet.. so let's have some activities time 1st...
Ta-dah... the 4 kiddos from Infant side...
Left to Right: Sachi (7 months), Kayden (17 months), Lyvana (14 months) and Lizhen (16 months)

Seated beside his "girlfriend"...
Giving her the 101% of his attention. *LOL*

Videos! From the 1st video, can see that Kayden is sooooo happy... grinning from ear to ear and if his eyes are not that big, it will be "smile until can't see the eyes" type. *LOL*

In this 2nd video, all the kids were standing in a circle, singing songs. Teachers said Kayden kept wanting to run to the centre and dance! *LOL* They need to stop him from going. *LOL*

sorry... don't know how to make the video upright... you guys might need to tilt your head to view. *LOL*

Cough Cough....

Kayden's fever is gone... since Monday and now, it's COUGH!!! Sigh... Seeing him coughing really makes my heart ache. This morning, was carrying him before I went to work and he coughed and puked all the milk out. Sigh... Hopefully he will recover soon...
But, despite the coughing, he is still very active and finally, at long last, my in-laws are letting him crawl around in the living room! *LOL* This crawling exercise no longer just happen once a week at my Mum's place. *LOL* He was so happy crawling around and chasing after my BIL (who was also on his fours). =) Wonder when will he start walking... by then, another set of "problem" might come coz need to keep a close watch on him all the times. *LOL*

Kayden's First Fever

We are back from Hong Kong! Actually been back since Saturday morning, 12am+... And Kayden was down with Fever!! This is the 1st time that he fall sick.
Brought him to GP on Saturday morning and temperature was still okie, 37.7 degree. But fever shot up on Sunday morning. Hurriedly brought him to KK Hospital. Stayed there from 4am+ till 9am+, spent most of the time waiting for him to pee (waited from 5am till 9am+). We were so happy when we saw the pee. *LOL* His pee was needed to do some test. Doctor said nothing serious, asked us to go home and monitor further.

Reached home 10am+. In-laws were shocked to see us walking through the main door coz they thought we were still sleeping in the room. They were not very pleased that we brought their beloved grandson to the hospital without informing them! Even blamed my BIL coz he knew and didn't inform. Sigh... Fever went up and down... and I took extra one day leave on Monday. Actually Kenneth and I are also sick and we suspected that Kenneth passed the germs to Kayden coz he insisted sleeping with Kayden in Hong Kong so that I could have more rest.

Anyway, my in-laws were so kan cheong about Kayden that they made me super panicky also. To me, it's normal for a kid to have fever, to fall sick. But to them, they made a super big fuss over it. *sigh* Thank god Kayden is well and crawling around now! If not, I don't know what other things my in-laws will be doing to my little baby. *LOL*
I will try to blog about the Hong Kong trip soon... very busy with work again... *sian* Wonder when can I retired and just stay at home and shake legs. *LOL*

First Hair Cut....

Chinese New Year is coming! So is Kayden's 1st birthday!! And so, we brought him for his first haircut (since birth) on Sunday.... Went to this shop, specialising in cutting kiddos' hair...

Put him on the little pink car and instantly, he was very frighten....
In the end, Kenneth needs to carry him... he was still struggling...

Finally calm down... but still grumpy coz he was suppose to be napping, but we woke him up when we reached NorthPoint. *LOL*
The haircut begins... Finally relaxed...
Smiling to himself when he saw his own image in the mirrow...
Smiled to me when he saw the camera...
Stone again....
Very frighten of the electric razor... shaved off his side-burn...
Oh... skinny baby!! *LOL*
Smile... you are on the camera....
After the hair cut... To me, it's like a trim... not really a cut... the hairdresser is not very experienced... regretted bringing him to this place... should have brought him to United Square... =( Anyway, he looks neater now... not a "mad professor" with hair flying all over now... *LOL*
The overall experiece is that, Kayden is very cooperative... never fidget or cry or whimper... Pass him a comb to play and he is able to keep still for quite some time... =) Now, he's all ready to face everybody for the upcoming Chinese New Year!!

Jon and Cassi's Big Day

After meeting all the mummies and babies on Saturday, we attended Jonathan and Cassi's wedding on Sunday! Cassi is my Secondary Classmate. We have been the best of friends since then. We reached Pan Pacific at 7.30pm... ahem... we were not late. *LOL* Kenneth actually missed the hotel car park and we went one big round before reaching again. He was so worried that we would be late. *LOL*

This is Baby K's first time attending wedding dinner. He was fast asleep when we reached. Nothing new as he seems to love falling asleep in the car, maybe because of the motion. He woke up when we went into the ballroom. I must say he was very well behave throughout our stay. But he is definitely one very greedy baby. Of all the dishes, seems like nothing suits him. *LOL* Mini Yam Rings were served and I fed him that. Then came the Roast Chicken, I also gave him some. We left early because it was already 10.30pm and baby needs to sleep. It was only towards the end, he started to fuss because he was sleepy. He slept all the way and even when we reached home, he did not wake up.

The wedding was a very beautiful one. =) Everything was beautiful... The bride is GORGEOUS!!! I am so happy to see this best friend of mine walking down the red carpet. =) Cassi, wishing you a blissful marriage with Jon. =)

We went to Mum's place before going to the dinner since Mum stays near town (so miss my old house - good location!) Mum asked me to take a shot of her and Baby K in front of her "prospering" "orange tree". *LOL*
The tree... I don't recall that it's ever so tall...

Baby K always like to scratch his ear these days... coz one of his upper tooth is coming out!!
Been a long long time since Kenneth was in pants + shirt... more than 2 years... *LOL*
My happy family...
Cassi marched in ... accompanied by her eldest brother... =) Beautiful bride...
Very happy to be seated on the high chair.. kept using his hands and bang the table... even when the couples were taking their vows... -.-"

Gathering for the Feb 09 Babies

We had a very busy and fulfilling weekend. =) Brought Baby K to the Feb 09 Babies gathering at Sengkang. As Kenneth needs to work, my personal "driver" sent us there and then came back few hours later to fetch us. =D Thank you, Michael!

This is our first time meeting all the babies and mummies. I was very excited but not so for Baby K. *LOL* He was fast asleep when we were on the way there in the car. Upon reaching, despite the noise (many babies crying and shouting), he continued his beauty sleep. Mummy Tracy commented that Baby K really can sleep! *LOL* I hurriedly ate my lunch but only managed to finish half the nasi lemak and he woke up.

Carried Baby K up from the car seat and put him down on the play mat with the other babies. Most of the babies already know how to crawl and if they came too close to him, he will start crying. And when the babies snatched his toys, he will also start crying. Sigh... So Baby K spent most of the times sitting on my lap.

Baby K did not take part in any of the "competition".. like Longest Standing Baby (think he will cry coz need to stand side by side with the other babies) or the Fastest Crawling Baby (he still can't crawl too well, head will tend to kiss the floor), etc. We just sat by the side and watched. It was indeed a very interesting gathering.

Met lots of mummies and chatted with them. Only remember some of their names. Heee hee.. Coz really too many for me to absorb. Left after few hours and sent Mummy Adeline and Baby Renee home. =) Mummy Adeline is such a young mummy... have 2 kids somemore! *envy* Hope to join more of such gathering next time. =)

Baby K warming up with 2 of his friends... =)
Tu-tu mouth....

Kayden and Aaden... =) *Baby K having red brows again coz was fussing before that*
Bite bite bite...
The most stylo baby... Han!

random update

Kenneth will start work only next Tuesday and for myself, it will be next Wednesday. Suppose to start on Monday but due to some issue, they want me to report for work later, which is pretty fine with me! Went down to The Company to sign the contract today and after which, went for my medical checkup. The DAY is coming soon... the day for me to re-join the workforce. Having cold feet now, so afraid that I can't fit in and will have problem "processing". Kenneth said want to buy a small car for me so that I have my own transport to drive to work. (Although my work place is in town, but I still need to take a train and then a bus before reaching office.) But I told him, I think it is safer for me to take the public transport. *LOL* The traffic in Singapore is just too much for me to handle. As for himself, he still dare not drive! He needs few more rounds of "orientation" from his brother. But for him, by hook or by crook, he needs to familiarise so that he can drive to work starting from next week.

Baby K is able to sit up on his own now. He will be lying on his tummy and the next minute, he will be sitting upright. Kenneth saw it when he did it for the first time. He was very excited and came running to me, asking me to go in and see. My little baby is indeed growing up. We foresee that, very soon, he will be able to crawl coz he is at the semi-crawling pose all the times. *LOL* with the butt high up in the air! Keep it up, Baby K!!! =)

Baby K's Teething!

A friend was asking me yesterday whether or not Baby K has started teething because her little boy seems to be starting, biting on stuff frequently. Well, Baby K had long long ago started to drool (a lot) and bite on whatever things he can lay his hands on but not a single little white cap sprouted out.

Few weeks back, I put a finger into his mouth and felt his lower gum. There was kind of like a bump at the front lower bottom of his gum where the incisors are suppose to be. Never thought of anything and very patiently, I waited for him to have his fever when he is teething. *LOL* No fever, nothing. So, I was thinking, maybe he will teeth later and hopefully he won't start teething (and develop fever) when we go to Hawaii. *LOL*

Few days back, Kenneth noticed (using his eye power because he said his fingers have bacteria, cannot put them into his son's mouth -.-") that there is some white white thingy appearing on Baby K's lower gum. I told him, cannot be teething because he did not have fever. *LOL* And we never talked about this anymore.

Today, after I came out from shower, I sat down beside Baby K who was sitting in his bouncer day dreaming. Played with him a bit and I don't know why, I suddenly poked my finger into his mouth and touched his lower gum. I felt it!! A very pointed feeling! Just like the corner of our teeth, that type of "pointed-ness"! Oh my, my little baby is teething... and he did not have any fever! Ha ha... And silly me all this while was waiting for the fever to come. *LOL*

Come to think of it, I guess that was why he refused to eat his rice cereals last week, milk intake also dropped. Could it be also due to teething, that's why he rejected the porridge? Whatever it is, I am just so glad that he did not give me much trouble (in fact, didn't give me any other trouble at all beside the refusing to eat and drink) when the teeth were forcing their way out.

I guess, he is really a very happy baby that requires the "minimum handling". *LOL* I am so blessed to have such an easy baby, if not, I don't know how I will survive having to take care of him ALONE for 7 mths plus before going back to Singapore. Guess his 2 little pearlies will be out fully in the months to come. =) Time to start brushing your teeth, my little baby. =)

Forcing him to open his mouth. Not sure if can see, but there is this little white white thingy at the bottom.

His expression (as well as the right hand) is so funny. I think 1st time I took his face so upclose. See the white white thingy?

He kept putting his tongue out when I tried to pull down his lip. No choice, "tricked" him by giving him the Gerber Puff. Can see 2 little white white thingy on the bottom...

Rice Soup aka Porridge

Baby K turned 6 months old yesterday and so, I started him on porridge today! Woke up at 10am and after giving him his milk, started to cook his porridge. Wendy told me that need to cook a very very long time in order to get the "lan" effect and must use low fire. Indeed, took a couple of hours to get this done, with occassional stirring.

Porridge with potato, carrot, minced meat and scallops. I think it's "lan" enough. The porridge I cook for our consumption is always like... rice with soup. *LOL*

Kenneth woke up to "witness" Baby K's first taste of porridge. He said he likes to see baby's reaction whenever we introduce new food to him. And so, he became the camera man, making himself useful, instead of just hanging around. (Thank god he didn't object to it coz he is always wondering, why I need to take so many pictures everyday.)

Baby K's response to the porridge? HE DOESN'T LIKE IT!!! He gave me the funny face and started to spit EVERYTHING out. I tasted the porridge prior to that, hmm... it's okie... a bit of sweetness (from all those ingredients) but still plain. *LOL*
He kept turning his head away whenever the spoon is near him.

Artistic shot! *LOL*
Need to hold the bowl far away, for fear that he will come and snatch it... porridge was super HOT! But so far, he is quite a good boy... never snatch the bowl or spoon whenever I give him solids. *phew* He only likes to "clean" his mouth with his hands... thus resulting in the whole face stain with whatever solids he is eating. *yucks*
Smiling for the camera!

Fed him until I was VERY FED UP AND ANGRY!! He simply refused to eat!! I gave up and went to prepare some sweet potato puree. An idea came to me! I was thinking... can I mix the sweet potato puree into the porridge and "trick" him into eating? Asked Kenneth and he said... "why not, they are food, right?" And so I mixed them up.

Finally eating the porridge (because of the sweet potato puree). When the spoon was first placed infront of his mouth, he even sample a bit first, and once confirm it is nice, he open the mouth and take in more. -.-" What a choosy baby!!
Still eating alright... but after a while, refuse to eat again! Then I got very confuse... is he full? Let him rest a while, then I made rice cereals, mixed with a bit of milk. He ate half of it and started fussing again. I guess, he was full already and stopped feeding.

We finally ended this "lunch ordeal" at 2pm (we started at 1pm). His next feed should be at 5pm and I kept monitoring, trying to sense if he was (still) hungry. I guess he was full coz he never cry or what. Took his nap at 4pm, woke up at 6pm and gave him milk.

Tomorrow will be another "porridge-eating-struggling" day for the 2 of us. Kenneth said must let him get used to eating porridge. I will standby the sweet potato puree though. Just in case. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

p/s: anyone knows what other type solids I can give him?

The Magical Bumbo Chair!

I think we have a magic Bumbo chair! Was feeding Baby K his Squash Puree this morning and after which, left him sitting there. I normally carry him and put him on the playmat, on the bouncer or into his crib after feeding him, because I can't be around to keep a lookout. There was once, he arched his back while sitting inside and nearly fell over! But today, because Kenneth was around, so we just let him sit inside after his morning feed.

He started arching and Kenneth went to "rescue" him. Then he found out, Baby K poo... This is not the first time that after sitting in the Bumbo chair (for a long time) and then he poo... a lot. So, we think the Bumbo chair has some kind of magical power that will make Baby K poo. *LOL*
If your baby is having constipation, maybe you can put him/her in the bumbo chair, let them sit for a long time... they might just poo!!
Oh, and I let him have his first taste of this sweet potato puffs today. Taste very yummy... I think I ate more than him. *LOL* Coz I need to bite and then give him bits of them. This was meant to be for crawlers... but... the puffs will just melt in our mouth, that's why I see no harm in letting Baby K have them. He loves them! Meeeeee too!!

Update from Vegas!

We are having a blast in Vegas!! Unlike the other trip, this one is soooo exciting and time is simply not enough!!!!! Bought so many things at the factory outlets on Sunday and walked A LOT. So much to do and see and so little time (because we do not want to disturb Baby K's bedtime). Went to watch Phantom of the Opera last night and it was AWESOME!!! I can watch it over and over again!!

Kenneth stayed in the room with Baby K while I went for the show alone. Getting to the theatre is not a problem because... we are staying at THE VENETIAN!!! Thanks to Kenneth who thinks that I deserve to stay in a better room because he knows I will be spending a long time in the hotel (at night) while he is having fun with his "night time entertainment"! *humpf* (ok, I had my part of the fun too when I was there from 3am+ till 10am+. *LOL*)

Alright... some pictures of our room! Simply wonderful... How I wish I don't need to go back. Ha ha... Dream on!
The living room.. with a little dining area and business desk. Not forgetting the L-shaped sofa.

The wonderful sofa which can sleep 2 more pax. Ha ha... And according to Kenneth, it's very comfortable (because he was lazing there watching TV when I was away).
The very comfortable bed... So comfortable that the 2 of them are still SLEEPING NOW at 11am!!!

The wall mounted TV infront of the bed.

The HUGE bathroom!!

There is a vanity table just opposite the bath tub. Forgot to take a picture. Hee hee...

Daddy busy playing with Baby K when we arrived...
We are going home tomorrow and there are still lots of places which I need to go. Although this is not my first trip to Vegas but ... just but... I really need to go to these touristy spots because it is afterall Baby K's first time here (although he doesn't know a thing) and I need to take a pic of him at these places! Ha ha...
Alright, ending this short post with the forever happy baby... Always smiling to people when strangers talk to him, charming them with his sweet sweet smile, no matter where we are. One guy we met at the outlet, even brought his gf, chasing after us, showing her Baby K. "Lady Killer" they said he will be when he grows up. Oh well... it's still too early to say now. People's features do change! We shall see when he is 18 years old.
