Another Use of the Boppy Pillow

Our boppy pillow is under utilised. Right now, we are only using it to block Baby K in his crib, preventing him from flipping when he's sleeping. The boppy pillow was bought to help Baby K do his tummy time few months back. We had never used it when we bottle feed him, because we do not know where to position the pillow. *LOL*

Decided to use the pillow to aid Baby K with sitting.

This is my favourite pic of the whole lot. Look at his left hand, he has an imaginary girlfriend. *LOL*

These are just some of the things the 2 of us do at home everyday. We also read and sing together. Ok lah, I am the one reading and singing. For him, he loves to scream / shout these days. Even at 3am in the morning. -.-" Nevertheless, I am going to miss these days when I start work in the months to come. Gonna treasure every minute of it now. =)

The Day I Delivered!

Since my previous post is about the day I tested positive, I thought I should also post up the day when I delivered. *LOL*

Once again, enjoy!

I am back! Back at home with Little Kayden. =)

As per my previous post, I was suppose to check in hospital for induction on 25 Feb, 9pm. Who knows, on 24 Feb, 11pm, I woke up wanting to go pee pee. Sitting at the bed side (coz very difficult to get up with a big tum tum) preparing to stand up, suddenly I heard a pop sound and felt something came out. Hurry to the toilet, thinking that my waterbag had burst or what. But only found lots of mucus like thing on the panty liner, not waterbag. Thinking that nothing was wrong, went back to bed.

As I was lying on bed, suddenly felt tummy very pain, like need to LS. Hurry to the toilet again. After a while, pain went away, and I walked back to bed. After few minutes, pain came again!! Went toilet and nothing came out again! Woke Kenneth up, he asked me to go back to sleep since I would be induced tomorrow, no point telling him I was in pain or what (coz I always tell him I got tummy pain at night... hahaa... ). But I told him, really very pain... is that contractions? But no leh, I heard people said... contractions is like menses cramps, this is not menses cramps! So.... for the next 1 hour, I was in and out of the toilet for more than 10 times!!!!! Kenneth was laughing away, telling me that it might be contractions, no matter how I sit at the toilet bowl, the pain will still come and go. But, to play safe, I kept sitting at the toilet bowl loh. He asked me to tahan for another 2 hours, just to make sure that it's really contractions before we go hospital.

Finally at 12am+ (25 Feb), I told him, I couldn't take it anymore and I need to go hospital... maybe it's contractions coz I suddenly remember what my mum told me on the morning of 24 Feb, she said if I feel tummy like want to LS, it's time to deliver!!! This stupid Kenneth, still told me, he needed to BATHE!!! Okie... I gave him time to bathe... after bathing, he came out, told me he needed to DRINK COFFEE coz he was very sleepy. At that moment of time, I screamed at him... hahaa... so painful!!!!! But, he did drank his dosage of coffee before leaving.

Making my way from the apartment to the car, pain came again. So pain till I couldn't walk and asked Kenneth if he could carry me. Ha ha.... Nevertheless, managed to reach hospital at 1am. Checked in at the Emergency Section. One of the male nurse saw that I was in pain, came with a wheel chair and asked me to sit. After checking in, he wheeled me to the women and infants' Section, which was very far away!

Waited at the waiting area. Pain came again, I started screaming. Luckily only got 2 other person waiting over there. Couldn't tahan the pain, asked Kenneth to go check why need to wait so long (less than 10 mins), finally the nurse asked me to go into a room and told me to get change at 1.20am. She took eternity (although less than 10 mins) to come in. When I saw her, I straight ask for EPIDURAL! She told me, not yet... she needed to make sure that I was really having contractions! Started to put on the CTG thingy on me and finally confirm that I was have labour pain. And told me that I was 5-6cm dilated. Okie... so... I asked for EPIDURAL again. She still told me need to wait coz need to draw my blood to do blood test (which I have no idea WHY). She started drawing but had difficulty coz my veins were very tiny. Then she asked another person in to help draw my blood. Not successful also! Finally, they agreed to push me to the labour ward so that EPIDURAL could be administered. They said they will ask someone from the laboratory to come and draw my blood.

The after effect of all the poking...

Reached the labour ward at 2.20am. EPIDURAL given at 2.40am. What a relieve! And the administering of EPIDURAL was painless also. This is also something which I am scare coz I heard of people saying how painful it will be when epidural was given. At 5am, someone from the lab came... she also tried to draw but wasn't successful. At 6am, another person from the lab came. This one was very very good! I felt no pain at all and she managed to draw the amount of blood needed!!! All these while, I was trying to SLEEP (coz very tired after all the ordeal) and Kenneth was also trying to rest (there is a sofa bed at the side for Daddy to sleep in).
At 7am, Dr Oland (my gynae) came and told me I was 7-8cm dilated. Told me that BB will be out in few hours time and he will come back again at 10am. At 9am, nurse came and told me I was 9cm dilated. To help speed up the dilation, she gave me the "peanut ball". It's actually a very big peanut shaped ball (yellow colour). Asked me to lie on my side and put the ball in between my leg. I slept in this position from 11am till 1pm. Dr Oland came in at 1pm and told me to get ready to PUSH. I was so tired.. I told him, can I nap first and push later? *lol*

At 1pm, pushing started. When he told me to push, I told him I don't know how to (coz 1st time, not sure where and how). He told me, just push as though like I want to poo. So... whenever contractions started, he asked me to take in a deep breath and PUSH.... Pushed for 15 minutes (actually not sure I did it correctly or not coz couldn't feel a thing at all due to the epidural), could see BB's head, he said BB got lots of hair and even asked Kenneth to see. Ha ha... Suddenly BB's heart beat started to fall and Dr Oland said need to use the suction vacuum. So, with the help of this vacuum, Kayden came to the world at 1.17pm on 25 Feb 09!!! He was out at exactly 40 weeks on his own accord... didn't want to be an induced baby.

Crying out loud... fresh from the "oven"...

The nurse gave him a jell-o like pacifier...

Peaceful and calm... (resembles me or Daddy?)

One thing for sure, he definitely has my mouth and Kenneth's nose!

Yippeeeee... we are going home!!! Curious about the surroundings after being strapped to the car seat.

Falling asleep in the short car ride home. Sleeping very soundly....

I must say that the whole experience was quite horrendous. But seeing Kayden born and crying away, tears just well up in my eyes. So happy, no words can describe those happiness. Never in my life I thought I could survive this whole ordeal (okie, maybe I am a bit exagerrating). Even when I went for wisdom teeth extraction, I need to go through GA!!! I am just so afraid of needles and pain. So I guess, nothing is impossible in this world.

I had already told Kenneth, this will be the 1st and last Baby. Ha ha... Well, at least if really want to have a 2nd one, need to give me some time to forget this whole experience. =p

The Day I Tested POSITIVE!!

Re-visited my Multiply blog and extracted out the post about the day I tested positive. =)

Enjoy...

This blog should be back dated to 18 June 08 (Tuesday). It's a very memorable day for me because first thing I did when I woke up in the morning was... PEE ON THE PREGNANCY TEST KIT and it was POSITIVE!!!! Couldn't believe my eyes, woke Kenneth up and asked him to double confirm. He saw a very faint line and told me maybe the test kit got error (coz this is a very cheap pregnancy test kit). So, I went online and did a bit of research. Saw that if it's a faint line, it just means that it's the initial stage of pregnancy, that's why the don't know what level is still low.

The USD1 test kit from Dollar Shop... See the faint line on the left of the dark red line? Hee hee....

After waiting for 2 hours, I went to pee again, this time round, on another test kit. A more expensive one....

This is the ClearBlue brand. See the faint vertical line on the big circle? And on the side, it says that if it is a "+" means pregnant. hee hee....

Kenneth finally woke up and I showed him this 2nd pregnancy test kit... Again, he said maybe error and so, after lunch, we went out to get a 3rd brand.....

The 3rd test kit of the day...Brand is EPT. Can also see the "+" sign....

So, it's confirm + chop that on 18 June 08, I discovered that I am pregnant with our 1st child. =) This pregnancy is a very shocking and surprise one because Kenneth was away for detachment for half of May period.

I still remembered that on the Saturday before I discovered this, I felt menses cramps and had a bit of brown spotting (maybe 1 drop). Later when I read up, that was actually implantation spotting + cramps! Only minority of the ladies will experience! I guess I am the lucky one? hee hee...

Made the appointment on 20 June 08 to see the gynae and was scheduled to see the nurse first on 30 June 08. Over here, everything needs to go by appointment which is rather irritating.... need to sit back and wait wait wait.... Nevertheless, we are very happy about this news... and so is our family + friends back in Singapore...

The 10m Sprint!

For the past few weeks, I had been doing the 10m sprint numerous times every night. -.-" Sprint from the living room sofa into the bedroom. Baby K's bedtime is normally at 7pm+. From the time he fell asleep till around 12am, he would scream/cry out loud in his sleep. I would then "diong diong diong" into the room and see what is it that he wants. I would see him scratching his chest.... eczema! Sigh... But then again, after I carried him in my arms, he would calm down. So, was it really the eczema, if it is, shouldn't he continue crying? *clueless*

I would prefer if Kenneth works morning shift, because he will be in charge of Baby K after his dinner, and I can kiao kah on the sofa. *LOL* There was a night, Baby K screamed so many times within an hour... so much so that Kenneth requested that we take turn to "diong" into the room. *LOL*

Anyway, he had been sleeping through very soundly for the past 2 night, no screaming or crying. I hope he will stay this way tonight... and also for the many more nights to come. =)

He's able to sit for a while on his own. Took this pic but coz too near, that's why blur. =(
And he fell... like a humpty dumpty... This is one of our favourite game these days.

One of his faourite sleeping position recently. Coz he will flip onto the tummy and then very conveniently, just sleep in this pose. He can sleep for a long long time like this.
Ugly sleeping posture. *LOL*

Rice Soup aka Porridge (Part 2)

Gave Baby K porridge again this afternoon. Like the first time, he spat them all out and started fussing. Having no choice, I took out the sweet potato puree. Kenneth woke up to see what was going on. Asked Kenneth to try feeding, and surprisingly, this little boy became very obedient and started eating the porridge, even without puree. -.-" He sure knows how to bully ME!! Kenneth couldn't help with the feeding coz he needed to go out to run errands. And so, Baby K and I continued with our "porridge eating" struggle.

Fed him few spoons of puree, then the porridge. He was ok when eating puree but when he tasted the porridge, started fussing again. And so I mixed them up. He would eat with no fuss if the puree is more than porridge... but if it is the other way round, he would struggle and then started his "nonsense".

All in all, he ate quite a fair bit of porridge. Actually, I am not sure whether was I the one who ate most of it. *LOL* Because the porridge was really yummy. I added more scallop today and lesser rice and it just tasted so sweet!! But he did finished 2oz of sweet potato puree. I even made some oatmeal cereals for him after that, and he refused to eat. So, I think he should be full.

Spoke to some mummies and they said their babies also reacted the same way when a new food was being introduced. Asked me to be patience. *LOL* Never give up, is the spirit!

The feed today took less than half an hour. Drastic improvement as compared to yesterday. Let's hope tomorrow will be a better day!!

Sleeping Anywhere, Anytime!

When Baby K was smaller... he used to fall asleep in the bouncer. That is a magical bouncer. He would doze off while listening to the melody and seeing all the "creatures" dancing in front of his eyes.

Sleeping very soundly....

As he gets older, he got tired of the bouncer, and so I put him on the playmat... He would also fall asleep on it. The magical playmat.
Sorry about the bloody sleeve... caused by his eczema. But the condition is under control now. *LOL*

I bought the Jumperoo and I put him inside just now, in the morning. He was doing his mini jumps inside (as per my previous post) and I could hear the Jumperoo making the noisy sound. Suddenly... no sound... I looked up... my dear boy had fallen asleep inside!!!

He must be very tired...

I bought a magical Jumperoo! ha ha... I guess he actually rock himself to sleep... Of course, I didn't let him continue sleeping like this (think it's quite uncomfortable), I carried him back to his crib and he continues napping...

Random

This is how this chor lor boy likes to lie in his crib. Eating his hands, listening to the crib mobile and the left leg, dangling outside, kicking the blinds (anything that gets in his way, he will KICK KICK KICK!). Really cannot stand him!

Leg happily dangling there... one fine day, sure trap and then will start screaming for HELP! At times, the hand will be out! (Of course, Kenneth freak out whenever he saw... coz it's DIRTY!! *LOL*)
After eating his puree... realised he is indeed small and tiny. *LOL*

Very comfortably seated (or semi seated, coz he is actually half lying against the monkey head) in the Jumperoo... and doing his mini jumps. Really looks very bu gan yuan to be inside. *LOL*

Like Father, Like Son

The small one refused to eat porridge today, the big one is not much better.

Cooked lunch (and at the same time need to entertain the small one, feed him, change him, etc) and "served" it to him while he ate it in front of the television, bad habit! He ate a bit and told me he was full. I am VERY ANGRY!!! Because... I so xin ku cooked everything, he ate so little. To me, not finishing ALL means that he doesn't like what I cook, not appreciative of my effort. ARGH!!!!! I already gave him very little rice!! I know, if I cook sambal prawns or fried stuff or any other chilli stuff, he will definitely finish up everything. But hey... we cannot have all these unhealthy stuff all the times!! Count yourself lucky that I never STEAM anything (beside eggs) for you to eat.

Maybe he should lead the life as a single for few weeks then he will realise how wonderful I am. *LOL* Hot piping food awaiting him whenever he reaches home from work or when he wakes up. Look at those singles... they still need to cook despite being very tired or hungry!!!

I feel much better after venting out my anger here. *LOL* Anyway, we are going home soon... days of my cooking will be over... he can go back to his local Singapore food for all that I care. *LOL*

These are the first 3 dishes we cooked together when we reached. Also the FIRST and ONLY time he helped out in the kitchen. -.-"

The first 2 dishes I cooked all by myself. (background: I couldn't cook for nuts before coming over. Didn't even know how to use the rice cooker!!)

2nd attempt cooking alone...

Oh well, I think at least what I am cooking these days, look more appealing than when I first started. But still, I am not a good cook lah... hahahaa...

Suddenly....

Suddenly I feel very excited about going back home! Suddenly I wish I can fly back NOW or that we are going back TOMORROW! Suddenly I miss my friends a lot!! Suddenly I just feel like seeing them and going out with them. Gosh....

Because we are going to Hawaii, we will miss out the mid autumn festival (which falls on 3 Oct). Actually I was contemplating about going Hawaii because I so feel like going back home just so to spend this festival with family and friends. Watched a certain show (the one selling mooncake), it said mid autumn festival is the day that family members should come together as one, something like a reunion for everyone.

There will be birthday celebrations in November and a wedding!! 2 of my Besties' birthdays (Ms Aw and Ms Tan) fall in November, Kenneth's birthday is also in this month.

A shot with Ms Aw during my 2006 birthday celebration. (ya, only ONE candle, cake too small, can't put so many up there. *LOL*)
A shot with Ms Tan when we celebrated Mid Autumn Festival in 2005. (seriously miss my nails and hair. *sob*)
In the months to come, I will be hanging out with these girls (plus some other) a great deal of time. You might see their faces on my blog often. *LOL*

And... one of my very very good friend, Cassi, (since Secondary school days) just told me that she is getting married in November! The dinner will be held at Pan Pacific. So happy for her and Jonathan. Told her we (the 3 of us) will be there and if it is okie, I would like to bring my mum!! My mum is always asking me about her. *LOL* The sweet little girl that she met when we were 13 years old. I wish her and Jon everlasting happiness and hope to see little Cassi or little Jon soon. =)

Rice Soup aka Porridge

Baby K turned 6 months old yesterday and so, I started him on porridge today! Woke up at 10am and after giving him his milk, started to cook his porridge. Wendy told me that need to cook a very very long time in order to get the "lan" effect and must use low fire. Indeed, took a couple of hours to get this done, with occassional stirring.

Porridge with potato, carrot, minced meat and scallops. I think it's "lan" enough. The porridge I cook for our consumption is always like... rice with soup. *LOL*

Kenneth woke up to "witness" Baby K's first taste of porridge. He said he likes to see baby's reaction whenever we introduce new food to him. And so, he became the camera man, making himself useful, instead of just hanging around. (Thank god he didn't object to it coz he is always wondering, why I need to take so many pictures everyday.)

Baby K's response to the porridge? HE DOESN'T LIKE IT!!! He gave me the funny face and started to spit EVERYTHING out. I tasted the porridge prior to that, hmm... it's okie... a bit of sweetness (from all those ingredients) but still plain. *LOL*
He kept turning his head away whenever the spoon is near him.

Artistic shot! *LOL*
Need to hold the bowl far away, for fear that he will come and snatch it... porridge was super HOT! But so far, he is quite a good boy... never snatch the bowl or spoon whenever I give him solids. *phew* He only likes to "clean" his mouth with his hands... thus resulting in the whole face stain with whatever solids he is eating. *yucks*
Smiling for the camera!

Fed him until I was VERY FED UP AND ANGRY!! He simply refused to eat!! I gave up and went to prepare some sweet potato puree. An idea came to me! I was thinking... can I mix the sweet potato puree into the porridge and "trick" him into eating? Asked Kenneth and he said... "why not, they are food, right?" And so I mixed them up.

Finally eating the porridge (because of the sweet potato puree). When the spoon was first placed infront of his mouth, he even sample a bit first, and once confirm it is nice, he open the mouth and take in more. -.-" What a choosy baby!!
Still eating alright... but after a while, refuse to eat again! Then I got very confuse... is he full? Let him rest a while, then I made rice cereals, mixed with a bit of milk. He ate half of it and started fussing again. I guess, he was full already and stopped feeding.

We finally ended this "lunch ordeal" at 2pm (we started at 1pm). His next feed should be at 5pm and I kept monitoring, trying to sense if he was (still) hungry. I guess he was full coz he never cry or what. Took his nap at 4pm, woke up at 6pm and gave him milk.

Tomorrow will be another "porridge-eating-struggling" day for the 2 of us. Kenneth said must let him get used to eating porridge. I will standby the sweet potato puree though. Just in case. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

p/s: anyone knows what other type solids I can give him?

Jump Baby, JUMP!

Baby K woke up from his nap yesterday evening and immediately, I put him into the Jumperoo! I was very excited to see his reaction. And... see the following picture for his response.
He grabbed on to me very tightly as I lower him down into the seat. Finally succeeded after numerous attempts because he kept crossing his legs. *LOL* Then after 5 seconds, he started crying! *LOL* Carried him out and calm him down, after that, milk.

I let him rest a while after his feed and then put him back into the Jumperoo again, crossing my fingers that he won't cry (if not, it's a waste of money). He accepted it well. Because he is not tall enough, I placed a box below, but somehow, the box is too high. Hmm...

Accepted the Jumperoo but still skeptical because he kept looking at me, like afraid that I will just walk away.

Since the box is too high, I placed some magazines below him but they kept slipping off (coz very slippery).

Sitting in a very funny post... he tends to lean forward.

Thank God I didn't wait for Kenneth to come back to fix the Jumperoo coz he reached home only at 6am! Told him about the "problem" (magazines kept slipping off), he asked me to tape the magazines together. Brillant!! Why didn't I think of that before!

Sitting at the right posture because the magazines (after being taped together) provides more "footage" for him.

He super love the hippo. And this is the only thing that he's playing now. The rest of the things, he will just STARE AT THEM. *LOL*

I am so glad that he knows how to JUMP (and swing himself) after putting him in it for the 2nd time. Though it is not those BIG JUMP type, but... I think that is also consider jumping. Lucky he likes it... never waste money. Hee hee...

As per the video below, this is how he JUMPS! Like very bored and "bu gan yuan". Ha ha...

Fisher Price Precious Planet Jumperoo

The FisherPrice Precious Planet Jumperoo is here!! The usual UPS delivery guy sent it over at 4pm+. Baby K was napping in the room and I was lying beside him, playing Sudoku. So super excited. Couldn't wait for Kenneth to come back tonight (God knows what time he will be back) to fix it... and so... I did it myself!!

Took me around 20 minutes to fix everything together. Could have done it faster but certain parts are just a bit too heavy for me. Hee hee... Didn't really use the instruction manual, figured out how to get it done on my own. I think i took the wrong course when I was in Poly/Uni. I realise I have a very keen interest in fixing things! *LOL* I guess it is too late for career change at my age now. *LOL* And not long ago, some folks back at home (Singapore) were still saying that they are not sure how to fix the Wii to the television... hahahaa... I think fixing this Jumperoo is more complicated than that! (opppsss.... folks, please don't be angry =p)
Anyway... this is the final product.... Now, waiting for Baby K to wake up and sees what's his response will be like.. =)

p/s: Thanks to Yanwen for telling me that this is better than the RainForest series one. And also, thanks to her for REMINDING me to order it last Friday. Xie Xie!!

Thank You!

I made my blog known to my friends in FaceBook yesterday, 24 Aug 2009. Received few emails this morning, saying that my blog is very entertaining, very funny. Prior to that, there are already few people who told me that my blog actually brighten up their days (I guess Baby K is the magic??).

Kenneth woke up just now and I had just finished posting the previous post. I walked away from the laptop and he started using. He saw my blog. FYI, he does not know my blog address and always need me to direct him to it. -.-" And YES, he is my husband and we are living under the same roof. *LOL* I continued cooking and he was smiling at the laptop. Asked him what is so funny? He said he is reading my blog and find it very amusing. After he bathe, before he left for work, I asked him again, "my blog really very entertaining meh?" He said, "Yes". Oh well, maybe because he doesn't want trouble and so gave me a positive reply. *LOL*

I am going back to Singapore soon. I might not be blogging so often because I will be working and will not have so much spare time on hand. But, I guess my readers will get to see more of my social life? (Don't worry, Baby K will still get his fair share of appearance.)

Some wives told me that they lost their friends ever since they come over here, while some told me that the bonding between them and their friends are not so strong anymore, and they will need to work on it once back. Will you guys still be around when I go back? Or will I be left behind? I might not be able to club as often like last time because I might not have help at night to look after Baby K. But, if we are going for coffee sessions, I can always bring my baby along. I promise that he will be a good boy and will not fuss one bit. *LOL* Of course, I know Bestie like Ms Tan will be around. =) Thanks! Ms Tan, I will go visit your mum too when I am back... is she one of my reader? *LOL*

Whatever it is, I want to thank all those who likes my blog. And for those who doesn't, I am not sure why you come back and is reading this now. *LOL* This blog is all about my humble simple life. I am glad there are people who finds it entertaining, funny, amusing, etc. Very happy when they said what I wrote brighten up their gloomy days (we know how stressful Singapore lifestyle can be). Actually, honestly I am not sure which part of the blog is so interesting. *LOL* I am just blogging about the everyday happening. I am sorry if I offend anyone in any of my posting (if there are any, can't remember what I had posted).
Thank you Everyone! =) Continue to follow our adventures here!!

Playing with Tags (what's that??)

Baby K loves play with tags... Tags? U must be thinking... price tags? *LOL* Nah... those tags found on the boppy pillow, bumper, bedsheet, Lamaze Inchworm, etc. As long as it's a TAG, he is able to entertain himself (by twirling and touching the tag) for a very very long time.

Secretly creeping up to take a pic...
Very engrossed with the tag, didn't notice my presence.
Oppss... Gotcha! Even smile for the camera!
After that, returning to the tag on the boppy pillow... ignoring me, once again!

So baby, does it mean Daddy can save a bit of money coz Mummy doesn't need to buy any toys for you? *LOL*
