Kayden @ Infant Care Centre

Kayden was "ship" to the infant care centre on 1 June 2010 (Tuesday). Kenneth was working noon shift and so, together at 7am+, the 2 of us sent him there. He was rather happy and cheerful when we reached. Playing with all the toys and exploring the place on all fours. At 10am+, we secretly hid ourselves (while still in the centre) to see what Kayden's reaction will be like when found us missing. He crawled towards the main door and turned around and gave the "no more / don't have" hand sign. One of the teacher then carried him away and he started crying!! We came out from hiding and played with him a while more before leaving the centre at 11am+. Sigh... We were also told that once Kayden started crying, the rest of the infants + toddlers started to cry too!!! It was chaotic!! They need to get extra help from Playgroup to come over to calm them down. *pai seh*

Teacher Becca told me that after we left, Kayden drank very little milk and ate very little porridge (like 4-5 spoons). She said this is very common for new kiddos that join them. But luckily, he managed to take 2 naps and seems to understand what Teacher Becca said. She told him "Kayden, you need to sleep now. You are tired. Mummy will come and fetch you later." He really did stop crying and fell asleep. Brought him home at 5pm+.

Still very happy... didn't know that we will be leaving..
Exploring the slide area.....
With Lizhen... who is 1 month younger...
2nd day. Left the centre at 11am+ also. Teacher Joanne pushed Kayden out and I quietly went off while we were outside. Kayden was fine when they went back but after a while, started crying. She managed to calm him down and for the rest of the day, he stick to her like bees attracted to honey. *LOL* So much so to the extend that Teacher Joanne needs to went for her lunch quietly and secretly coz Kayden will start looking for her when she started to walk away. Brought him home at 5pm+.
Want me to carry him... as if knowing that I will be leaving later... =(
Cheeky smile...
The baby behind Kayden is Yixi, 7mths old but so much heavier than Kayden!! Nap most of the times and when possible, will put whatever things he can into his mouth. *LOL*
Exploring the corner...
3rd day, also the last day I can be with Kayden inside the centre. I left around 10am+ and went back only at 4pm+. Discovered that he was still having diarrohea. Brought him to see PD and doctor said if possible, don't bring him to school the next day. Kayden woke up crying in the middle of the night and I also cried together with him. We need to bring him to school the next day coz if we don't, he will miss school for 3 days and when we go back on Monday, he will have a really hard time adjusting!! I told Kenneth, this was not what I want... ideally will be getting a maid but we can't coz "someone" will be around then we will be back to square one, putting Kayden into the care of "someone". Sigh... so poor Kayden needs to "suffer".... Doctor said Kayden is underweight. Already, he is very small size and with this diarrohea, it's even worse now!! But doctor also said, the small frame might be following Kenneth's genes...
With Yixi and Lizhen. Being the oldest in the centre, but Kayden seems to be the smallest size. *LOL*
Rare to see them sitting together and playing like this. Coz the 2 older one will be crawling around.
Seated at the table... so happy... This was taken when I went to fetch him... Don't think he looks traumatised at all...
Shifted him to another chair with a nicer background behind. *LOL*

Sitting upright!! As if paying attention in class. *LOL*
Kayden can read, so can YOU!!
Started to be k-po again... looking at Teacher talking to someone....

Today is Kayden's 5th day at the centre. Played with him for a while before I left. Sigh... The usual teacher is on MC and he was left in the care of a "stranger". Teacher Joanne will only be there at 10am... When I left, the teacher carried him away and I could hear him screaming and crying. I got no choice. =( And when our car left, I think he saw us (he recognises our car at this age) and he must be feeling panic... thinking why his mummy leave him there just like this. =( I have no choice... Kenneth will be home early later and he will go and fetch him at 5pm+. In the meantime, Kayden needs to learn to be independent and hopefully be a good boy and don't give the teachers much problem... =(

  1. Don't worry too much! Hubby and I placed our baby at the ifc when he was 8 months old, same reason as you, someone said our boy is too tough to look after. At first, he also cried a lot, but slowly he learnt to make friends with the teachers and other kids. The only thing is, he will be getting sick quite often, but he will grow strong very fast too. Cheer up!

To me, Hubby and I are working hard to provide a better future for ourselves and our boy, we are not been heartless , the one heartless is that someone who wants her carefree life back and said my boy is too tough to look after. Yes having a child is our responsibility, but what is a family for if in times of need they are not even willing to help?

  2. Don't worry la... they always settle after like 2 weeks but it feels like forever during those 2 weeks... and I had my boy throwing his shoe at the teachers! so your boy still pretty good after all!

  3. Anonymous,
I hope the day will come soon that he won't cry so much. Sigh. Teacher will call me twice a day to keep me updated on his progress. Seems like he's still crying a bit too much. And I think, I am quite immune to his cries when I leave in the morning.

Ya, my "someone" also said my boy is very tough to look after.... but when we decided to put him in, "someone" kicked up a big big fuss... *sigh*

  4. Sam, Darwin is such a smart boy! Kayden has got no shoes to throw coz he still doesn't know how to walk so we never bother to put on any for him when we go IFC. LOL.
