From Liquid to Solids

Kayden has his first taste of solid food today, at 4 months 17 days old. We gave him Gerber Rice Cereal. Not sure how much he needs, I started with 3 little teaspoon of rice cereal mix with 15 little teaspoon of breastmilk (20ml).

The rice cereal mix with breast milk on his tiger-faced plate.

I was very surprise with his reaction towards the cereal... He loves it! and he has no difficulty swallowing them, only spitting out a bit throughout the whole feed. He was very excited throughout the whole feed and kept opening his mouth for more! After giving him the first mix, I went and mix another 3 little teaspoon of rice cereal with 15 little teaspoon of breast milk.

The first spoon of cereal!

The messy face at the end of the feed!

He was crying shortly after the feed, gave him a bit of breastmilk and he drank around 40ml. So, total feed was 6 little teaspoon of rice cereal mix with 20ml of breastmilk and another 40ml of breastmilk. Guess he was pretty full because the next time he wanted milk was 4hrs plus later!

We are planning to make some fruit puree next weekend and then store them in the freezer. This is another milestone for our little boy and us, as the parents are so thrill to see him eating solid! More to come, my little darling.
